TMNS, Inc.

Dial tone. Train control. SCADA. Networks that are never allowed to fail.

TMNS provides network consulting for Tier 3/4 rural telecom networks and regional OT and SCADA networks, worldwide: carriers, transit, rail, utilities, and critical infrastructure. Decades of hands-on experience with the networks that carry 911 calls, broadband subscribers, train signaling, SCADA, and radio. When the network is the service, "best effort" isn't good enough.

Operations network: segment health live
  • 911 / priority routing protected · healthy
  • Subscriber broadband healthy
  • Signaling & train control isolated · healthy
  • SCADA / traction power isolated · healthy
  • CCTV & station systems 1 advisory
  • Radio / comms backhaul healthy
  • Enterprise IT boundary segmented
Illustration: the segments carriers and operators actually run.

If this looks familiar, you already know why the usual IT vendor isn't enough.

What we do

Networks where failure is not an option.

Most network consultants come from the office-IT world: email, laptops, cloud apps. We come from the carrier and operational side: telecom networks where a 911 call must always complete, rural broadband networks whose subscribers deserve city-grade uptime, and OT networks that carry train signaling, traction power SCADA, fare systems, cameras, and radio. Networks where a bad change doesn't mean a helpdesk ticket. It means lost dial tone, or service disruption in the physical world.

That background changes how we work. We design for segmentation first, because control systems and enterprise IT should never share fate. We design for zero maintenance windows, because in 24/7 operations there is no good time for the network to be down. Blue/green change models and active/active or active/standby designs mean the network can be worked on at any time, while service keeps running. And we document everything, because the next engineer (or the safety auditor) will need to understand exactly why the network looks the way it does.

The same discipline applies whether you run a rural telephone or broadband company, a transit system, a utility, or a plant floor. Careful design, deliberate change, plain-language documentation.

The Problem

The network everyone depends on, and no one owns.

Picture the operations team at a rural telephone company, a transit agency, a utility, or a plant. The network grew over twenty years: vendor by vendor, project by project, grant by grant. The enterprise IT group doesn't want to touch it. The equipment vendors only know their own boxes. Nobody holds the whole picture.

Then something drops: a whole exchange loses broadband, a camera segment goes dark, a PLC stops reporting, a fare gate loses its head-end. Is it a switch? A fiber path? A misconfigured VLAN from a project that closed out three years ago? The person who knew is gone, and the drawings were never updated.

General-purpose IT consultants make it worse. They bring office assumptions to a carrier-grade network, flatten segmentation for convenience, and schedule changes as if nothing depends on the wire but email.

Telecom and OT networks deserve engineers who live in that world. That's the gap TMNS fills.

Services

Consulting, from architecture to handoff.

We help you get the design right, hold vendors to it, and hand your team a network they fully own and understand.

Tier 3/4 rural telecom

Carrier networks for rural telephone and broadband companies: 911 and priority routing, subscriber access, and core that never goes down.

OT & SCADA networks

Architecture, segmentation, and IT/OT boundaries for utilities, industrial plants, and regional SCADA systems.

Transit & rail systems

Signaling, SCADA, fare collection, CCTV, and radio networks, designed with agency-grade discipline.

HA & DR design

Blue/green, active/active, and active/standby designs for zero-maintenance-window operations, with DR as cyber protection, not just disaster planning.

Monitoring & automation

Monitoring you can trust and automation that removes the toil, built into the design, then handed to your team.

Firewalls, routing & VPN

Deep platform familiarity: Juniper and VyOS firewalls, switches, and routers; IPSec, WireGuard, and OpenVPN architectures.

Why TMNS

Experience you can't shortcut.

TMNS brings decades of hands-on work with telecom, transit, and industrial networks: the systems that carry 911 calls, deliver broadband to whole towns, and move trains, power, and people. That experience isn't something you get from a certification course. It comes from years of designing, operating, and defending networks where dial tone and the physical world depend on the answer.

When we advise your organization, that's the standard your network gets held to.

Let's talk about your network.

Whether it's a rural telecom network, a transit system, a plant floor, or a regional SCADA system, tell us what keeps you up at night. We work with a small number of clients at a time, on purpose.
